Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 May 2026
1. Introduction
SnapToCode is a Chrome extension that lets you screenshot any region of a webpage and converts it into clean Tailwind CSS and HTML using AI. This policy explains exactly what data SnapToCode does and does not collect, where it is stored, and which third parties (if any) receive it. We have deliberately kept the extension as privacy-preserving as possible.
2. Data we do not collect
SnapToCode does not have any servers of its own. We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell personal data. We do not collect your browsing history, the contents of pages you visit, the screenshots you capture, your IP address, or any analytics about how you use the extension. We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, fingerprinting, or any third-party analytics services. Nothing about your activity is sent to us, because there is no us-side endpoint to send it to.
3. Data stored locally on your device
The extension stores a small amount of data locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local. This data never leaves your device except where noted in section 4.
-
Your Anthropic API key — stored in
chrome.storage.local, never transmitted anywhere exceptapi.anthropic.comwhen you trigger a conversion. -
Your SnapToCode license key and activation state — stored in
chrome.storage.local, validated againstdodopayments.com. -
A counter of free conversions used (
chrome.storage.local). - Your settings preferences.
4. Data sent to third parties
SnapToCode communicates with exactly two third parties, only when you take an action that requires it:
-
Screenshots you capture are sent directly from your browser to Anthropic's API (
api.anthropic.com) for AI conversion. Anthropic's privacy policy applies: https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy. -
Your license key is sent to Dodo Payments (
dodopayments.com) for validation. Dodo's privacy policy applies: https://dodopayments.com/legal/privacy. - No data is sent to any other third party. We have no analytics, no advertising, and no servers of our own.
5. Permissions the extension requests
Each Chrome permission SnapToCode requests is scoped to a single specific feature:
-
activeTab— to capture the visible region of the current tab when you click "Capture Region". -
sidePanel— to display the SnapToCode interface. -
storage— to save your settings and license locally. -
Host permissions for
api.anthropic.comand*.dodopayments.com— to make the API calls described above.
6. Children
SnapToCode is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the extension and provided personal data, please contact us and we will help take any appropriate steps.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the extension evolves. Any updates will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date at the top of the page. Material changes that affect how data is handled will be called out clearly.
